About the webinar:

This presentation will introduce the concept of workplace mistreatment, its multiple forms in the workplaces, and research findings on its prevalence, antecedents, and impact. Further, evidence on effective workplace interventions to prevent workplace mistreatment will be discussed. This session will provide insights into understanding how organizations, leaders, and workers can better prevent workplace mistreatment and cope with workplace mistreatment experiences.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the learner will be able to:

  • Describe primary forms of workplace mistreatment, their prevalence, and their impact
  • Discuss common antecedents of employee workplace mistreatment behaviors and experiences
  • Explain how organizations, leaders, and workers can better prevent workplace mistreatment and cope with workplace mistreatment experiences

Speaker: Zhiqing "Albert" Zhou, PhD

Dr. Zhou is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mental Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational (IO) Psychology with a concentration in Occupational Health Psychology (OHP) and a minor in Public Health from The University of South Florida in 2014. His research focuses on workplace mental health, studying how workplace experiences (e.g., workplace mistreatment, illegitimate tasks) affect employee health, safety, and well-being, the interface between employee experiences between work and nonwork domains, and how to promote better employee health, safety, and well-being.

The Center for Occupational and Environmental Health designates this activity for a maximum of 1.0 Contact Hour. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
