Job title:
Student Researcher
Department:
Occupational & Environmental Epidemiology
Bio/CV:

Degree Program: Ph.D.

Expected Graduation: 2024

Area(s) of Interest: Exposure-response models for occupational health studies, cardiovascular disease, health disparities

Project(s): Current research focuses on racial health disparities in cardiovascular disease mortality. "To do so, I am using a cohort mortality study of hourly workers at General Motors (GM) plants in Michigan. Specifically, I am examining the racial composition of the GM workforce across plants and over time to identify the cumulative impacts of the plantwide racial composition and racial segregation by job (metal machining versus assembly) for each worker on racial disparities in cardiovascular disease mortality, accounting for workplace exposure to metalworking fluid. My future projects will then assess the impacts of metalworking fluid exposure and job loss, respectively, on racial disparities in cardiovascular disease mortality."

Desired Employment: Occupational Epidemiology post-doctoral student or Public Agency
