General Population Performance in Passing a Fit Test for N95 Respirators

This presentation will share findings from our research on the performance of the general population in the N95 respirator fit test conducted at the Minnesota State Fair in 2021 and 2022. I will also discuss how demographic factors such as gender, age, and race influence the likelihood of passing the fit test.

Speaker: Majid Bagheri Hosseinabadi, PhD Candidate

Majid Bagheri Hosseinabadi is a dedicated researcher and industrial hygienist with over eight years of experience in occupational health. He is Currently pursuing a PhD in Occupational Hygiene at the University of Minnesota, where he also works as a research assistant. His research focuses on occupational exposures to airborne viruses and bacteria in agricultural settings, with a strong emphasis on mitigating the health risks faced by workers. He earned a master’s degree in occupational health from University of Kerman, Iran. He has taught courses such as Noise Engineering and Radiation Hygiene, and supervised undergraduate theses at University of Shahroud, Iran. As a researcher, Majid has successfully secured funding for research projects, including a clinical trial on the effects of intervention with vitamins E and C on the adverse health effects induced by electromagnetic fields exposure among power plant workers. Recognizing his academic achievements and research potential, Majid has been awarded several prestigious scholarships, including the AIHA Local Section Scholarship (2024) and the Northwest Chapter of the ASSP scholarship (2024). With a deep passion for his field, Majid is poised to continue making significant contributions to occupational health through his research, teaching, and advocacy efforts.
