About the webinar:

H5N1 Avian Influenza has broken all the rules and now impacts dairy production and dairy workers in addition to poultry. This presentation will provide an update on what we know about this virus, what harm prevention and health promotion activities exist (or could exist) to support impacted producers and workers, and what barriers stand in the way of occupational and Total Worker Health efforts.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Describe the biology and epidemiology of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1 Influenza A) in the United States and globally

  • Evaluate current occupational and Total Worker Health strategies for workers in the dairy and poultry value chain

  • Discuss potential strategies to apply Total Worker Health to address emergent infectious diseases using H5N1 as an example
