Goals of Project:
The goal of the internship is to support the Multi-Actor Partnership (MAP) project on the Gender and Health team, which focuses on improving Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) of women garment workers in Bangalore and Tamil Nadu. The intern will assist the project team by achieving the key milestones, such as the kick-off meeting, and contribute to logistical planning, stakeholder coordination, and drafting of materials for the meeting.
By the end of the internship, the intern will have gained valuable experience in OHS within the garment sector and contributed to improving workers’ occupational health and safety.
Intern Expectations:
The intern will play a crucial role in assisting the project team in executing key milestones, like the kick-off meeting, core group meetings and implementation and monitoring of gender responsive OHS guidelines in garment factories in Bangalore and Tamil Nadu. The intern will support logistical planning and coordination, drafting preparatory materials, and organizing background documents. In addition, they will support ongoing MAP activities such as arranging logistics for core group meetings, fine-tune (editing, graphics etc.,) the OHS guidelines and developing worker-focused OHS materials.
Necessary Skills:
- Good knowledge of OHS – to assist with refining OHS guidelines, drafting reports, and contributing to policy discussions. Knowledge of the international laws, conventions and voluntary guidelines pertaining to OHS to help with fine-tuning of the OHS guidelines.
- Organizational Skills – to manage logistics, coordination, and scheduling for meetings and documentation of the minutes.
- Effective Communication – to communicate with the Cividep and the MAP team.
- Attention to Detail – for preparing background materials, documents, and reports with accuracy.
- Team Collaboration – to work closely with the project team and assist in facilitating meetings and discussions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G-Suite – to handle documentation, presentations, and communication.
As an intern, you will:
- Implement and monitor the gender-sensitive Occupational Health and Safety guidelines for garment factories in South India.
