James Craner, MD, MPH is an Occupational Medicine physician and Tesla’s Corporate Physician, based in Reno, Nevada.
Dr. Craner is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Medical School. He completed residencies in Internal Medicine at Brown University, and Occupational Medicine at Rutgers University, where he received his Master of Public Health degree. He has 25 years of private practice experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of occupational and environmental diseases, and served as Tesla’s first Corporate Physician from 2019 to 2023 until his retirement. He currently consults on a part-time basis to the EV/lithium battery industry on occupational health, industrial hygiene and chemical risk management, and is commercializing patented/patent-pending, population-based statistical analytics for occupational audiometric, biomarker and pulmonary function data.
